It sounds a bit like Phidippus Audax, one of the largest and most interesting jumping spiders. See the link below.
It is likely that an adult jumping spider. It can be very large, hairy and tend to have white spots. They are harmless, but actually they jump. We have to stop it or leave it alone. If you try to get rid of a spider on the chest directly. Haha, I do not.
